If youĀ have ever wanted to study the Upaniį¹£ads, this is the perfect place to start. This 4-week course is a deep dive into the sixth chapter of the ChÄndogya Upaniį¹£ad, one of the mostĀ celebrated conversations on the nature of self and existence between the teacher UddÄlaka and his son Åvetaketu. In this course, we will read the original Sanskrit line by line and explain its meaning in English in depth. No Sanskrit knowledge required.

This course is the concluding course of the flagship three-level Sanskrit curriculum of Sanskrit For Mere Mortals, but is suitable for students who have studied Sanskrit before and are looking to hone their existing skills and learn new ones. It builds upon the foundations of Sanskrit knowledge laid in Kickstart Sanskrit, and the advanced grammar and reading practice done in Powerup Sanskrit. In this course, students will read from more genres of Sanskrit literature, aiming to read from some of the most sophisticated registers of Sanskrit, namely poetry by great poets like KÄlidÄsa. Once a student is exposed to such literature, they can roam freely in the world of Sanskrit, defined as knowing where to look to find answers and having a community that can support them to do so, which is the goal of this curriculum.

This 12-week course is a continuation of the Kickstart Sanskrit curriculum, but is suitable for students who have studied Sanskrit before and are looking to hone their existing skills and learn new ones. This course will cover certain topics in advanced grammar,Ā followed by readingĀ from Sanskrit literature.
